There are fewer states that are more appropriate and/or more suited for a bowl game than the State of Florida.
In this piece, we are going to examine key bowl games that will be taking place in the Sunshine State. We will primarily be focusing on the various projections for the following Florida-Based Bowls: Cheez It Bowl, Orange Bowl, Taxslayer Gator Bowl, Citrus Bowl, Cure Bowl, Gasparilla Bowl and Boca Raton Bowl.
Cheez-It Bowl
This annual college football game has been played since 1990. It has been played under different sponsors such as Carquest, Mazda, is an ACC team and a Big 12 team.
USA Today predicts that this game will feature the Florida State Seminoles vs the Texas Longhorns.
Yahoo Sports predicts that the Cheez-It Bowl game will feature a matchup between Louisville and Oklahoma State while CBS Sports believes that North Carolina will take on Oklahoma State.
Orange Bowl:
The Orange Bowl is the 2nd oldest bowl game in history and has played every year since 1935. It was previously sponsored by Federal Express, Discover and now by Capital One.
USA Today has predicted that North Carolina will face LSU. Yahoo Sports alao predicts that the North Carolina Tarheels will play in the Orange Bowl. However, they predict that the Tennessee Volunteers will be their opponent.
On the other hand, CBS Sports believes that the Clemson Tigers will take on the Alabama Crimson Tide.
TaxSlayer Gator Bowl
The Taxslayer Gator Bowl has been played since the 1940s with sponsors such as Mazda, Outback Steakhouse and Toyota. The Gator Bowl has always been featured in Jacksonville, Florida.
USA Today feels that the Taxslayer Gator Bowl will feature Wake Forest vs Mississippi State. Yahoo Sports predicts that Florida State will face Kentucky while CBS Sports believes that Notre Dame will take on Arkansas.
VRBO Citrus Bowl
The Citrus Bowl has been in existence since 1947 and has had sponsors such as Buffalo Wild Wings, CompUSA and Capital One. Now the game’s sponsor is VRBO.
There is a clear consensus that Penn State will be playing in this year’s Citrus Bowl.
USA Today predicts that the Citrus Bowl will feature the Penn State Nittany Lions vs the Tennessee Volunteers.
Yahoo Sports also has the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Citrus Bowl. However, they predict that their opponents will be the LSU Tigers.
On the other hand, CBS Sports believes that Penn State will be taking on Ole Miss.
Cure Bowl:
The Cure Bowl is an annual bowl game that has been in existence for 7 years. It’s sponsors over the years include Autonation, FBC Mortgage, Tailgreeter and now Duluth trading. The purpose of the Bowl Game is to promote breast cancer awareness.
USA Today predicts that the Cure Bowl will feature Connecticut vs Southern Mississippi.
Yahoo Sports also predicts that Connecticut will be playing in the Cure Bowl. However, they predict that the opponents will take on Appalachian State.
On the other hand, CBS Sports believes that the game will feature Ohio vs Marshall.
Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl:
Formerly known as the St Petersburg Bowl, this annual bowl game was renamed the Gasparilla Bowl 5 years ago. The name was inspired by a mythical pirate named Jose Gaspar.
USA Today predicts that the game will feature Central Florida vs Louisana-Lafayette.
Yahoo Sports predicts that the game will feature Miami vs Arkansas while CBS Sports believes that Duke will take on Buffalo.
Roofclaim.com Boca Raton Bowl:
The Boca Raton Bowl is an annual game played in Boca Raton, Florida. It is sponsored by Roofclaim.com.
USA Today predicts that the game will feature Georgia Southern vs Utah State .
Yahoo Sports believes that the game will feature Troy vs Air Force while CBS Sports feels that Houston will take on Wyoming.
