Bethune-Cookman’s two-game winning streak ended with a road performance that unraveled almost immediately.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff scored on the first play from scrimmage and intercepted five passes on the way to a 63–21 victory at Simmons Bank Field on October 31. The result left the Wildcats at 5–4 overall and 3–2 in SWAC play.
Jaylen Jennings opened with an 87-yard touchdown run. Before BCU could establish a response, turnovers helped the Golden Lions build a 28–0 first-quarter advantage. Two interceptions were returned for touchdowns, including a 79-yard return following a mishandled Wildcats field-goal snap.
The Golden Lions led 49–0 at halftime and extended that margin before BCU reached the end zone late in the third quarter.
Playing without injured quarterback Tyler Jefferson, Bethune-Cookman used multiple passers. Freshman Cordan Patterson threw a 16-yard touchdown to Myles Morales and later scored on a nine-yard run. Deanwar Johnson added a two-yard rushing touchdown.
Rashon Brown gained 98 yards, but the Wildcats averaged only 3.1 yards per carry as a team. Arkansas-Pine Bluff finished with 333 rushing yards and a 9.8-yard average, keeping pressure on BCU even beyond the turnovers.
Morales offered one of the Wildcats’ brighter individual performances with three catches for 50 yards and his first touchdown of the season.
BCU’s November 1 recap headline lists a different score, but its game narrative, scoring summary and box score agree on the 63–21 final used here.
